Richard P. Clark
President, CEO & Director
Mr. Clark has a long and highly successful track record in the mining industry including Red Back Mining Inc. where as President and CEO he led Red Back to become an intermediate gold producer. Mr. Clark successfully guided Red Back through all facets of growth including discovery, feasibility, financing and production coupled with successful corporate acquisitions culminating in the sale of Red Back to Kinross Gold Corporation in late 2010.
Chief Operating OfficerWith 40 years of experience in mining operations in Africa, Australia, North and South America, and Europe, Mr. Ross (Eur Ing, MBA, MIMMM) contributes a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise to Orca. Mr. Ross was the former COO of Red Back Mining Inc., where he led its operations including the development of the Akwaaba Deeps underground mine, the Chirano plant expansion and the Tasiast plant compliance and expansion. Prior to joining Orca, Mr. Ross served as the COO of Red Back, Sirocco Mining Inc., New Gold Inc., Ivernia Inc., and was former CEO of ARCON International.
Chief Financial OfficerMr. Kondo is a highly qualified finance professional with extensive senior executive and corporate board experience in the mining industry, most recently as Chief Financial Officer with Lucara Diamond Corporation, owner of the Karowe mine in Botswana, one of the world’s most successful and profitable diamond mines. Prior to Lucara, Mr. Kondo held senior executive roles with Anglo American where he has been responsible for delivering significant commercial growth internationally by leading mergers and acquisitions, raising capital finance and achieving business transformation through operational performance and project management. Mr. Kondo is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
Karamo NM Sonko
Chief Strategist, African BusinessDr. Sonko (B.A. (Swaziland), M.Phil. (Cambridge), Ph.D (Denver)) has more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry in Africa. As one of the Company’s founding shareholders and managers, Dr. Sonko has served the Company since 2011, providing strategic guidance over the Company’s business affairs in Africa. Prior to joining the Company Dr. Sonko served as Vice President of Red Back Mining Inc.’s Mauritanian subsidiary until August 2011, a year after Red Back Mining Inc.’s acquisition by Kinross Gold Corporation in 2010. Dr. Sonko has extensive experience in strategy, business development, government relations and corporate social and environmental responsibility. Prior to entering into the mining industry, Dr. Sonko worked for several international organizations, such as the IMF, UN and African Union, and taught at a number of universities in North America and Europe. Dr. Sonko is a member of four boards of directors and advises a variety of international organizations and corporations.
Emmanuel (Ema) Abanyin
Mr. Abanyin is a professional geologist with 19 years of experience in mineral exploration. He holds an MSc. in Geological Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Ghana. Mr. Abanyin has been a long-standing member of the Orca Gold team. Between 2012 and 2018, he served as Orca's Senior Project Geologist before being promoted to Exploration Manager of the Company. Since joining Orca, Mr. Abanyin has played an integral role in taking the Block 14 Gold Project from an early exploration discovery, through to Feasibility and now, as VP of Exploration, towards construction.
Prior to joining Orca Gold, Mr. Abanyin worked for Red Back Mining, where he was a senior member of the exploration team that increased the resource at Tasiast Mine in Mauritania by over 16 Moz between 2007 and 2011. Before working at Tasiast, Mr. Abanyin worked in Ghana where he was involved in the discovery of the Enchi Gold Project, currently being developed by Newcore Gold.
VP, Corporate Strategy
Ms. Chow is a marketing and capital markets professional with 20 years of experience. She holds a B.B.A. (Marketing and Finance) from the University of Toronto and specialises in stakeholder communications, capital fund raising, corporate development and corporate strategies. Over the past 15 years, Ms. Chow has primarily focused on working with mineral exploration and development companies with projects in Latin American and Africa. For her first five years in mining, Ms. Chow worked in-house for a number of TSX and TSX-V-listed exploration companies including Continental Gold (now Zijin) and Auryx Gold (now B2Gold).
Between 2010 and 2020, Ms. Chow founded and operated a boutique marketing and investor relations agency in Toronto that serviced private and publicly traded companies across multiple sectors. The agency's mining clients included Pershimco Resources (now Orla), Roxgold, Golden Star, Cardinal Resources and Montage Gold among others. She is a Director of Jot Technology Solutions Inc., a private Canadian tech start-up with a mobile contact management application for business professionals.
Mr Reardon graduated as a geologist from the University of Queensland and has worked for both mine operators and consultants for 25 years. Mr Reardon has 17 years of experience working in open pit gold mines. Mr Reardon was appointed as Country Manager in 2019.
